Region Seven Chairman Gordon Bradford is currently assessing the flood situation in the Upper Mazaruni area.
The Regional Chairman and a team which also includes Agriculture Officer from NAREI Quincy Bentinck who is stationed in the Region are currently in Paruima assessing the situation there.
According to reports farms have been affected in Kamarang, Paruima, Waramadong, Jawalla/Quebanang, Kako, Phillippai, Imbamadai and Amokokopai. Mr. Bradford and team are expected to visit Waramadong tomorrow to assess the situation there.
The Community Development Officer Rosita Williams said today the water has receded about six feet but remains high.
However, the area is experiencing partly sunny conditions and residents are hoping that it improves and the water can recede to some amount of normalcy.
Meanwhile, donations continue to pour in supporting the Ministry’s and INET donation drive. Today food items, clothing, medical supplies, a gas stove, a generator and other items were delivered to the Civil Defence Commission for distribution to affected areas.
More than three thousand residents have reportedly been affected.
