Moco Moco is situated near the foot of the scenic Kanuku Mountains about 15 km north east of Lethem. The village was formerly named “Ka-ya-Weng” a Makushi phrase meaning “Sky Valley”. It was later renamed Moco Moco because of the Moco Moco plants which are found along the banks of a tributary of the Takutu River that runs through the center of the community.
