The village was first started by two pioneers, Nabi and Kannuku, who came from Rio Negro in Brazil around 1800. They settled in the forest along the mountain range. Later others followed and settled in the community. The community has a population of 652 persons, with 109 households. The community has a Nursery School, a primary school and a health centre.
