In 1948 the first person to settle permanently was Thomas Daniel and his wife, Marie. They had four children. Marie was a Wapichan woman originally from Sand Creek. The family settled at the edge of the light forest on a hilltop, 3 miles east of Annai. Eventually his step-daughter and step-son got married and the population grew.

In 1990 the first school was built with local materials and teacher was recruited by parents of the Village. In 1997 a permanent school was established funded by SIMPA. Subsequently other builders were constructed.
