Presidential Scholarship Awardee, Riana Toney pays visit to Honourable Pauline Sukhai MP ahead of departure to overseas-University

Ahead of her departure to the prestigious Fordham University, 18-year-old Presidential Scholarship Awardee, Riana Toney paid a visit to the Hon Pauline Sukhai, Minister of Amerindian Affairs.

Riana shared of her journey to being accepted into the top university, her field of study and future plans upon her return back home during the visit.

Meanwhile, the honorable minister committed to providing support to the young scholar’s journey, in whatever form it may be required.

The young scholar will depart Guyana to commence studies at the New-York based University in September for four years.

Riana will be pursuing studies in the field of Biological Sciences, and hopes to serve well when she returns.

In 2019, the Queenstown Region Two teen copped the country’s top CSEC performer title.

Riana attended the Anna Regina Secondary School.

She secured a whopping 19 Grade Ones. In addition, she bagged the CSEC Regional Top Award for that year.

The young woman was accompanied by her bother, parents Rickey and Shavanna Toney on her visit to the Ministry.

On the other hand Permanent Secretary, Ms. Sharon Hicks, Parliamentary Secretary, Ms. Sarah Browne and Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Ryan Toolsiram were present.

Therefore, the Ministry extends best wishes to Riana Toney as she continues working diligently to achieve her goals through academic studies!
